Alternative rock icons The Lemonheads are officially returning to Dublin, Cork and Galway this September as part of their newly announced Love Chant World Tour 2026.

Led by the unmistakable Evan Dando, The Lemonheads remain one of the defining alternative bands of the late 1980s and 1990s, celebrated for their mix of melodic power pop, raw emotion and effortless cool. Their music has continued to resonate across generations, influencing countless artists while building a loyal worldwide fanbase.

The Dublin date forms part of a major new European and UK tour announcement, following an important period away from the spotlight for Dando, who earlier this year stepped back to focus on his health and personal wellbeing.

Speaking about the upcoming tour, Dando shared:

“I'm grateful for the time I've had to focus on getting healthy and making things right. The support from our fans and my family has been everything. I've spent the last few months reflecting on what's important, and I'm ready to return to the stage with a clear head and a lot of gratitude. I can't wait to see everyone out there.”

A Band That Helped Shape Alternative Rock

Described by The New York Times as “one of the most distinctive voices of the ’90s”, The Lemonheads first emerged from Boston in 1986 and quickly built a reputation for blending punk energy with beautifully crafted melodies.

Early albums including Hate Your Friends, Creator and Lick established the band as underground favourites, before major label success arrived with 1990’s Lovey. Their breakthrough came in 1992 with the now-classic It’s A Shame About Ray, featuring beloved tracks including My Drug Buddy, Confetti and their hugely successful cover of Mrs Robinson.

Over the years, Evan Dando’s songwriting style, equal parts vulnerable, sharp and melodic, has helped cement The Lemonheads as one of the most enduring and influential bands of their era.

New Music and a New Chapter

The upcoming tour also follows the release of Love Chant in 2025, the band’s first new studio album in nearly two decades. The record marks a fresh creative chapter for The Lemonheads while staying true to the sound and spirit that made them so influential in the first place.

Fans attending the Dublin. Cork and Galway shows can expect a set packed with classic songs, fan favourites and newer material, all delivered with the intimate energy that has always made The Lemonheads such a compelling live act.
